Goodera enables corporate teams to volunteer for global nonprofits during Hunger Action Month

Goodera gathers corporate volunteers to take part in volunteering activities - with its nonprofit partners - to eliminate hunger
September is celebrated as Hunger Action Month, a 30-day event to address, recognize, and fix the underlying factors that lead to hunger and poverty. Growing concerns around food security and the fact that there are over 35 million food-insecure people in the U.S. alone have sparked a growing interest in corporate volunteers to take action against hunger.
The campaign #HungerHero- Be The Force To Drive This Change enables employee volunteers from Goodera’s list of corporate clients to choose from Goodera’s curated volunteering experiences, schedule a time that works for them, and volunteer to make an impact.
“Writing a cheque is always the easiest option, but I would recommend anyone who's listening to get involved with us, get convinced and then write a cheque,” says Shridhar Venkat, CEO, Akshaya Patra Foundation. “There are various ways in which you can support. But I would recommend that you volunteer first, know what we are doing, and talk about it. Use your intellectual capital and time that you have on solving a particular problem that we have.”
As part of the initiative, Goodera partnered with 12 nonprofits that work to alleviate hunger across the globe, to:
- Design 15 different virtual volunteering opportunities for corporate volunteers. These experiences ranged from promoting a healthy diet for women to building a sustainable food system in just 1 hour.
- Raise voices of the nonprofits and their cause. Goodera interacted with the Nonprofits through exclusive interviews and panel discussions to highlight the issues and derive a solution. The discussions are featured on Goodera’s platforms.
Two third of the 12 nonprofits received immense support from Goodera’s clientele with 22 volunteer hours booked within the 2 days of launching the campaign. Three out of the 12 nonprofits were able to achieve their annual fundraising target, as part of the Dollars for Doers Program.
“I think there are many ways for people to get involved, and especially for groups. You can join forces with existing organizations, which is what I know that Goodera is already doing, building that bridge to organizations and amplifying what's being done already,” says Nicola Gryczka, Co-Founder, Social Gastronomy Movement. “To all volunteers, my biggest message is don't ever underestimate the power that you have to help. It doesn't matter how small or big the action you will be part of.”
Encouraged by the success of the #HungerHero campaign, Goodera has already launched its portfolio of events for corporates for October to focus on breast cancer awareness, raise awareness on mental health issues, and celebrate LGBTQ+ History.
