Goodera brings together nonprofits and corporate volunteers to celebrate International Day of Education through its virtual volunteering platform

Goodera runs #EducationForAll campaign in partnership with global nonprofits improving education systems all around the world.
As part of the campaign, Goodera engaged corporate teams in impactful virtual volunteering opportunities and interacted with leading nonprofit leaders that support Education for All.
Every year, the world celebrates the International Day of Education to acknowledge the problems faced by millions of children worldwide due to lack of resources and public policies. “Science without art is like having functional eyes and not vision. I think art brings everything that science brings to life. We couldn't visualize science, and it was through art. So art is a part of STEM. There is no stem without skill. Art allows students to make connections not only socially and emotionally but academically to their own experiences.” says Francisca Harding, CEO / Founder Brains Academy. “Art is a way of communication that allows connecting regardless of the language you speak.”
To celebrate International Day of Education, Goodera partnered with 8 nonprofits to:
- Record career stories to support young girls to pursue a career in STEM fields: Volunteers will share their inspiring career stories with young girls and women from African-American heritage to motivate them into pursuing STEM-based careers they are passionate about and break gender stereotypes.
- Make digital flashcards to help refugees learn English: Volunteers will make digital educational flashcards to help improve the English language knowledge and skills of refugees resettling into the US.
- Record audiobooks to improve comprehension of children with (dis)abilities: Volunteers will read and audio record favorite children’s storybooks to help bring books to life for children with (dis)abilities.
The campaign #EducationForAll enabled corporate volunteers to choose from Goodera’s list of curated experiences, schedule the experiences for a time that works for their teams, and volunteer to make an impact for the communities in need.
As part of the campaign, 8 of Goodera’s nonprofit partners booked 72+ hours of volunteer participation. All the nonprofits engaged a diverse team of corporate volunteers, raised funds through the Dollars of Doers program, and developed long-term volunteering relations with 2 of the Fortune 500 companies.
“Sometimes, concepts like empathy aren't a priority in schools. Social-emotional learning is a valuable skill. We can all agree that the world is becoming a difficult place to live. Working on these skills gives young people an opportunity to connect. They get to know how to see the past differences and somebody else's perspective." says Rachel Gleeson, the Ireland Programme Officer, Narrative4.
Encouraged by the success of the #EducationForAll campaign, Goodera has launched its portfolio of events for February to focus on World Cancer Day and aim to prevent millions of deaths each year by raising awareness and education about cancer.
