The new programme of the Online Theatre Academy: between Quantum Laboratory and Stanislavsky

For one year, the World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT/ITI has been offering online courses for acting, directing and teaching. What seemed to be born out of necessity is proving to be a highly interesting and successful format. Artists from all over the world are connected for a moment and taught at the highest level. Because the Online Theatre Academy conveys the latest research results in direct dialogue.
No online format can replace personal contact and joint physical training, but artists from the most diverse regions of the world gain access to new methods and practices that would otherwise have been denied to them. International contacts were made during the very personal seminars. Training exercises can also virtually connect artists.

This year's autumn programme focuses on the one hand on the classical topics of monologue and the actors self-preparation, and on the other hand on various experimental topics and their training offered by Dr. Jurij Alschitz, the artistic director of the Institute.

The main focus, however, is on the year-long programme about the great theatre master Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavsky. Jurij Alschitz, who himself studied under a direct student of Stanislavsky and is regarded as a resolute innovator - sometimes opponent - of the system, approaches the master once again with great respect and new curiosity. He has invited his master student Dr Olga Lapina for a dialogue. Olga has also been trained at GITIS, the Russian Academy of Theatre Arts in Moscow, and works today as a director and as a lecturer at the State Academy in Lithuania. Representatives of two generations will discuss how the Stanislavsky-System can be applied in practice today.
The international participants are invited to find the answers themselves. The title is the programme: "My System of Stanislavsky". After one year of practical work together, we will have results to present in the summer of 2022.

The World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT is the appointed research centre of the International Theatre Institute, the World Organisation for the Perfoming Arts and active member of the ITI/UNESCO Network for Higher Education in the Performing Arts.

It was founded by the artistic director Dr. Jurij Alschitz and programme director Christine Schmalor as AKT-ZENT International Theatre Centre Berlin to establish post-graduate courses for theatre practitioners with the aim to connect training, research and artistic production. Over the years, Dr Jurij Alschitz formed a team of teachers, who work worldwide.
