The dry mill plant is designed to process corn into ethanol with Distiller's dry grain and carbon dioxide as the main by-product. Dry grinding is processed without separating the various components of the grain, such as the kernels or whole germ of corn or other starchy grains (wheat, barley, sorghum).

• US is currently using conventional distillation to produce 190 proof ethanol, dehydrated to about 200 proof (pure alcohol) using molecular sieves.
