Facebook, Zuckerberg Eyeing Cannabis Networking Site: MjLink
Despite Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s current legal woes, whispers in the digital content sector speculate the Facebook chief is evaluating cannabis oriented social media service MjLink.com, a subsidiary of Social Life Network Inc (OTCMKTS: WDLF). After the U.S. House of Representatives’ landmark decision to federally legalize marijuana earlier this month, even one of the world’s top billionaires has to assess the cannabis sector’s revenue potential. Rumor has it that Zuckerberg, who is facing multiple antitrust lawsuits from foreign and federal regulators and in jeopardy of having his internet media empire dismantled, could be setting up a possible “worst-case scenario” contingency plan that would find Facebook, Inc. (FB) entertaining a meeting with Social Life Network (WDLF).The Nearing of Legalization
These days, marijuana reform is not just an issue to debate in the United States, but a topic that is being discussed by governments all over the world. The positive global shift towards the therapeutic benefits of marijuana has led many of the world’s population to call for an end to any prohibition. Just last month, the Mexican Senate approved legislation to legalize marijuana nationally. Although that bill needs to pass through the Mexican Congress' Chamber of Deputies before becoming law, this new legislation would make Mexico the largest legal weed market in the world. Shortly after, the United Nations voted to remove cannabis from their “world's most dangerous drugs” list. Additionally, various European countries have announced controlled pilot programs to permit the legal distribution and use of medical and recreational marijuana. By conducting these research experiments, governments wish to examine the many effects the drug has on their populace and economy. Conversely, although cannabis research in the U.S. has struggled over recent years, the U.S. Senate passed the “Cannabidiol and Marijuana Research Expansion Act” this month: a bill set to increase the number of firms sanctioned to cultivate the drug for researchers. At this time, there is only one entity federally licensed to produce cannabis.
Facebook Community Standards
Facebook’s stance on marijuana-related content hasn’t always been in the best interest of the cannabis industry. It's only been a little over two years since Facebook scaled back their censoring of results users received when searching for cannabis-related topics. According to Facebook, they took those strict measures (along with the suspension or deletion of users’ accounts) to combat against anyone who'd illegally attempt to sell marijuana on their site. Even with legalization near, Facebook prohibiting illegal use of their platform will not change. However, will the government’s future policies on marijuana alter the way Mark Zuckerberg and his firm view the industry from a financial standpoint?
Vertical Social Network
Social Life Network, Inc. offers social networking services to businesses, business professionals, and residential consumers. The group at Social Life are the architects behind MjLink (touted as the Facebook and LinkedIn of the cannabis industry), an enterprise of social networking platforms that link similar groups of cannabis enthusiasts to one another. WeedLife.com, HempTalk.com, MjLink.com, and MjInvest.com are the four cannabis-related networks that the team at Social Life has cultivated to 5.5 million active users (as stated by the company’s CEO). They have also recently developed social networking sites for sports and real estate online communities. In quarter four of 2020, we also saw MjLink introduce Android and iOS mobile applications for each of these four platforms. This move should prove to increase MjLink’s public visibility since some consumers can only connect to the internet via their mobile device. According to the MjLink webpage, "all websites, mobile apps, and software for use by MjLink are owned and managed by Social Life Network, Inc." With that said, it appears that Social Life Network has made all the right moves and found themselves on the radar of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook.
Recommendation
2020 was a rough year for many technology firms, but none have been in more hot water than Facebook. There's no mystery that Mr. Zuckerberg is an intelligent individual, so while the feds are breathing down his neck, now is the opportune time to realize a potential successor for an application like Instagram, one which government authorities are threatening to detract from his organization. It is unlikely that a recreational marijuana user would be comfortable posting their ganja exploits on the same application they share with their superiors and coworkers, so the exclusivity that Social Life (WDLF) offers highlights their competitive advantage. The financial success of social networking sites like Twitter, Snapchat, and Tik Tok (to name a few) proves that online community platforms are highly profitable; therefore, one can conclude Social Life Network’s (WDLF) extremely low stock quote of $ 0.0022 is undervalued. With legalization just around the corner, Silicon Valley insiders may be correct when surmising that Mr. Zuckerberg has changed his viewpoint on how Facebook can capitalize on social media’s involvement with the cannabis community. As always, be sure to do your due diligence, and continue to make wise investments.
