ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH 2020

ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH 2020

As one of the few fairs in Europe, the art fair Art International Zurich took place in Zurich this year.

Difficult times direct one's gaze to the essentials. Art International Zurich 2020 seized the opportunity to make a bold statement for the safe staging of events.

Even in the Corona Pandemic, the Swiss art fair ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH - this year for the 22nd time - could be successfully presented in the historic Giessereihalle Puls 5.
ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH thus enabled the exhibitors to maintain the necessary and inspiring contact with the public. Visitors were delighted to be able to experience an art fair "live" in 2020 and to purchase artworks directly.
In a long year without art fairs and with very few exhibitions, this contemporary art fair was a necessary and strong achievement by all involved. In the autumn of this long "Corona year" 2020, ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH enabled the exhibitors to have the much-needed and also inspiring contact with the public. This Zurich art fair helps artists and gallery owners to remain creatively and commercially active.
Since its foundation in 1999 as an art fair that focuses on personal contact, ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH has developed into one of the most important Swiss marketplaces for new and contemporary art.
ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH is not only an art marketplace, but also a forum for lively exchange. The annual art fair offers a broad overview of contemporary art.
The fascination of ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH lies above all in the diversity of the exhibits - from classical forms of expression such as painting and sculpture to multimedia, photography and installations. Thus, figurative and abstract, conceptual and impulsive works are presented in small to large formats.
After a long year without art fairs and very few exhibitions, this art fair was a bold and successful statement for the safe staging of events. The organisers emerge from this crisis experienced and motivated and look forward to 2021 with confidence.
Once again, ART INTERNATIONAL was a social highlight in Zurich's event and cultural calendar. The importance of such platforms for creative people became clear in many conversations. Maximum protection - especially from the new corona virus - of visitors, exhibitors and staff was successfully implemented with a protection concept and hygiene protection measures at the fair. Spatial measures to maintain distance rules, cleaning and disinfection and other protective measures were well received.
But even under these conditions, there was plenty of room for intensive personal discussions with the artists and galleries present and numerous works of art were sold. Overall, there was a good order situation.
Zurich is the cultural and economic metropolis of Switzerland - in the heart of Europe and in the centre of Switzerland. As a metropolis of experience on the water, with a magnificent view of the snow-capped Alps on the horizon, Zurich offers a unique mix of attractions.
Zurich is one of the most popular cities in the world for art dealers. Typical of Zurich is the density of galleries. There are more than 100 galleries and branches of the auction houses Christie's and Sotheby's in Zurich. Zurich was the starting point, base and stopover for avant-garde writers and artists. But Zurich is also a shopper's paradise with international brands, traditional shops and urban Zurich labels, as well as the most extravagant and lively nightlife in Switzerland.
ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH takes place in the event arena PULS 5 - a historic, converted foundry hall in the middle of the lively trendy district of Zurich West. The historic exhibition hall with the adjacent Turbinenplatz stands for the heart of Zurich West. The hall retains its historic aura and atmosphere. Exciting industrial architecture in a large hall with plenty of daylight will again provide the modern and atmospheric setting for ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH in 2021.
