Art as a Bridge in Global Exchange - International Perspectives at Zurich Art Fair
The 27th edition of ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH will take place from 23 to 25 May 2025 at the Giessereihalle Puls 5 in Zurich, transforming this historic industrial monument into a meeting place for contemporary art from all over the world.The renowned art fair presents an impressive spectrum of contemporary art and offers an inspiring dialogue between artists, galleries and an art-loving public.
With around 50 exhibitors from all over the world - from Switzerland to South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Italy, Greece and Zimbabwe - the fair presents works in a variety of genres, including painting, sculpture, photography, digital art and installations. The artistic positions are as diverse as the countries of origin.
ART INTERNATIONAL ZURICH 2025 stands for an open, global art scene and creates connections across continents. Numerous projects are dedicated to themes such as cultural identity, sustainability, urbanity, feminism and intercultural dialogue. It creates space for encounters, new perspectives and creative impulses.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FAIR
Modern art from Zimbabwe:
African Tale, curated by Artgal.Online and the Swiss-Zim Heritage Gallery, explores themes such as ubuntu, township life and animal welfare in Zimbabwe. Works by artists such as Keith Zenda, Barry Lungu and Tonderai Mujuru are on display. These are complemented by powerful Shona sculptures that convey spiritual depth and cultural identity.
Theiler Gallery juxtaposes Shona art from Zimbabwe with contemporary positions, including sculptures by Colleen Madamombe, Henry Munyaradzi and Tafadzewa Gwetai. These works reflect the spiritual depth and craftsmanship of the Shona art tradition.
Building bridges to India:
The Swiss-Zim Heritage Gallery's Bridging Continents project brings together Indian and African art traditions. Artists such as Balkrishna Kamble and Nitin Khilare explore the cultural links through common themes and forms of expression.
Malaysian Perspectives:
At G13 Gallery, Najib Ahmad Bamadhaj combines socially critical painting with political depth. His works combine traditional techniques with strong visual expressions to reflect the complex social and political realities of Malaysia.
Art from South Korea:
DM Gallery (Changyeong) brings the creative power of Korea to Zurich with a wide selection of artists, offering a multifaceted insight into the Korean art scene. The works combine traditional techniques with modern forms of expression.
Jami Exhibition Plan and Gallery (Seoul) presents works by Mihaeng Lee, Jami Seong and others in the context of everyday life and personal environments.
Japan: Tradition, Modernity and the Present:
Smart Ship Gallery (Tokyo) will once again occupy a large space at the fair with a wide range of contemporary Japanese art, including cityscapes, traditional ink paintings, glass art and mixed media. The works strike a balance between classical techniques and contemporary expression, promoting cultural exchange with global aspirations.
Art from Taiwan:
Taiwan has a strong presence in contemporary Asian art. The LEXPO Gallery (Taipei) provides an international platform for contemporary Asian art. Works by Yen Hsin Lin, Chen Po-Yuan and Paulina, among others, will be on display.
Artistic diversity from different countries enriches the programme:
Studio Aoristico (Lo Greco, Venice) presents classical sculptures that capture Mediterranean emotions in bronze, stone and marble.
Patricia Dreyfus (Paris/Berlin/Basel) shows feminist-surrealist embroidery with depth and subtle humour.
Shama presents surreal dream worlds from Azerbaijan.
David Stumpp (Constance) creates poetic watercolours with an impressionist character.
Anna Dobrovolskaya-Mints (ADM Photo, London) combines astrophotography with conceptual works about the transience and grandeur of the universe.

Ernestina Abbühl combines the Engadine mountains with abstract relief art.
Chris van Weidmann shows calligrams - a poetic symbiosis of writing and pictorial composition.
Ulrich Erkelenz shows minimalist panel paintings with an architectural character.
Natalie Vogel shows intuitive, colourful paintings inspired by nature, urbanity and emotion.
Galerie Agénor, Zurich, presents Ribal Molaeb, whose work is inspired by music and the harmony between heaven and earth.
Robert Schwander (CH) combines macro photography with abstract painting.
Street art duo One Truth Bros (Zurich) are well known for their urban graffiti murals.
Anna Parisch (Geneva) combines modern iconography with Japanese aesthetics.
Art Momentum City Galerie (Biel) presents works by Schang Hutter, H.R. Giger and Christine Aebi-Ochsner, among others.
At artroom f/two (CH), aesthetically abstract landscape photographs on the theme of 'ice and fire' are on show.

Crossing the borders between art and craft:
Cashmere meets art: the "Pashmina and its Painting" project by Will Skill Passion (CH) and Christine Collet combines hand-embroidered cashmere scarves with modern painting, creating a unique symbiosis between textile art and contemporary painting.
Art X on Glass (CH) transforms glass art into functional living art or living into art.
Martina Schiffer (LumenArt, CH) offers mandala paintings inspired by Art Déco.
Petra Lehmann brings mixed media art between photography and drawing to the wall as a light installation.
Medial and thematic diversity:
The exhibition presents a variety of different art forms, including classical painting, photography, textile art, sculptures in stone, wood and bronze, as well as glass art, digital media, mixed media and NFTs.
