Luxury Frontiers Honored as Finalist for Two Design Awards

Camp Sarika by Amangiri in Utah placed Luxury Frontiers in the running for Hospitality Design and Radical Innovation Award
(San Francisco/Johannesburg) – Luxury Frontiers, the San Francisco/Johannesburg-based international firm specializing in the design and development of high-end, light-on-earth building concepts, has been honored as a Finalist for two notable hospitality industry design awards which recognize the firm for its architectural and interior design work for Camp Sarika by Amangiri in Utah.
Luxury Frontiers placed as a finalist for its design of exclusive tented accommodations at Camp Sarika in the “Upscale, Lifestyle, Luxury Guestrooms” category for the 16th Annual HD Awards from Hospitality Design magazine. Meanwhile, back in July, the firm’s work for Camp Sarika saw it named among three Professional Finalists for the 2020 Radical Innovation Award focused on design concepts that envision what lies ahead in hospitality and travel. An invited audience will select the winner of the Radical Innovation Award during a ceremony on November 18, 2020.
Luxury Frontiers’ work for Camp Sarika, which debuted in July 2020 near the Amangiri resort in Southern Utah, saw the firm conceive and design 10 luxury tented pavilions nestled at the feet of mighty mesas, with the ability to withstand potentially harsh environmental elements – including widely varying temperatures, snow loads up to 6 pounds per square foot, and winds up to 90 mph – while providing guests with an unforgettable experience in nature.
Enveloped by soft natural canvas, the comfortably spacious one- and two-bedroom tented pavilions are laid out with a living area, dining area, wet and dry bar, and private bathrooms with bathtub, and indoor and outdoor showers. In keeping with the design ethos of Amangiri, all tents are comfortably spacious, with clean lines and natural color schemes. In addition, the refined camp’s details reflect the local region through textures and natural materials inspired by the undulating surfaces of the desert. Interior details include camp-style custom walnut desks, bespoke campaign chairs with leather finish, and etched timber headboards referencing the surrounding landscape and finished with soft cushions suspended from leather straps.
The outdoor areas of the tented units are equally beautiful. Guests are invited to relax in a private heated plunge pool, stretch out on a deck arrayed with comfortable loungers, or gather around a campfire complete with fireside furniture. The deck is thoughtfully shaded from the harsh Utah sun by a highly engineered extended canvas overhang, allowing for a seamless integration between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
“Camp Sarika was an ambitious project that tapped into all of our talent, and we’re delighted to have been honored for our work as a Finalist for a Hospitality Design HD Award and the Radical Innovation Award,” noted Luca Franco, CEO and Founder of Luxury Frontiers. “These recognitions celebrate the visionary architects and designers we have on our team as well as the future of luxury hospitality as adventurous travelers desire accommodation that immerse them in the experience of the surrounding natural beauty.”
