Mind Mapping Innovators MindMeister launches app with Google Drive
Munich, April 24, 2012: MindMeister today announced the integration of their award-winning mind mapping application with the newly launched Google Drive, Google's cloud storage and collaboration service. MindMeister, along with other web services, is one of Google Drives launch partners that have been given priority access to the Google Drive platform to be able to seamlessly integrate their application ahead of its public launch.Users of Google Drive can open popular mind mapping files from Freemind, MindManagerTM and XMindTM straight from Google Drive using MindMeister in their browser, without the need for having any of those programs installed. The mind maps can be fully edited in MindMeister - even collaboratively using MindMeister’s real-time engine - and then saved back to Drive in the original format. New maps can be created, shared and co-edited. Mind maps stored in Google Drive are automatically synchronized to the Google Drive folder on the user’s computer.
“MindMeister’s integration with Google Drive will give users even more opportunities and solutions for storing and sharing their mind maps online,” says MindMeister’s Managing Director, Till Vollmer. “MindMeister has been at the forefront of the online collaboration market for a long time. We’re very excited to be working with Google and to be a Google Drive launch partner.”
Apart from seamlessly importing and exporting mapping files from Google Drive, MindMeister also allows users to share maps easily with their Google contacts, attach documents from Drive to topics within a mind map, and bulk export mind map files.
"Giving Google Drive users the ability to to build and collaborate on mind maps from anywhere using MindMeister is a great leap in productivity for our users." said Scott Johnston, Group Product Manager at Google. "We're excited to have MindMeister as a Google Drive launch partner."
The MindMeister application is available for free in the Chrome Web Store and provides Drive users with an intuitive solution for brainstorming, online collaboration and tasks organization.
About MindMeister
MindMeister is a market innovator for providing collaborative online mind mapping solutions. Launched in May 2007, the site has since attracted hundreds of thousands of businesses, academic institutions and creative consumers who have mapped over 100 million ideas online.
In brainstorming mode, fellow MindMeisters from around the world (or just in different rooms) can simultaneously work on the same mind map - and see each other's changes in live time. Using integrated Skype calls, they can throw around new ideas and put them down on "paper" at the same time. Maps can be imported from and exported to standard desktop mind mapping applications such as MindManager and FreeMind, or even as a document outline or image file. Community features such as tagging and change notifications (also via Twitter) make MindMeister all the more useful for global collaboration. MindMeister runs in a web browser, no plugins or additional software required.
About Google Drive
Google Drive is a cloud storage and collaboration service from Google. Drive allows people
to store their files online and access them from any device: in desktop folders on Mac or PC
computers, in mobile apps on Android or iOS devices, or from any web browser by visiting
drive.google.com. Google Drive is available with 5GB of storage for free, and additional storage
may be purchased.
Google Drive also allows people to create, edit and share files with one another. Google Drive
applications are third-party applications that work seamlessly with Drive. By integrating with
the user account and file data stored in Drive, these web applications provide a simple way for
people to open files from Drive, make changes or edits in the application, and then save the
updated file in Drive. Google Drive applications are available in the Chrome Web Store.
