Crow Wing County, MN Bolsters Their Ordinance with LODGINGRevs

07-20-2020 02:55 PM CET | Business, Economy, Finances, Banking & Insurance

Press release from: LODGINGRevs

In December of 2019 Crow Wing County, Minnesota began using LODGINGRevs to help identify and accurately match listings to properties. Through the use of the LODGINGRevs expert review team, they were able to identify 313 properties operating as short term rentals. All the while the Crow Wing County Board was working on drafting an ordinance that would work to address their community’s needs.

Tuesday, June 9th Crow Wing County, Minnesota adopted a new ordinance that outlines the responsibilities of short-term rental operators. Such responsibilities include abiding by rules regarding septic systems, noise, parking and the existing county and state requirements. This ordinance will be effective January 1st, 2021. Through using LODGINGRevs the city will be able to enforce these changes while reducing the impact these changes would have on city staff.

"It is clear to us at LODGINGRevs that Crow Wing County is committed to enacting short-term rental regulations that will maximize the health and safety of visitors and residents alike, all while honoring the vibrancy of these unique lake towns,” said Alyssa O’Connor, Conversion Specialist, LODGINGRevs. We are excited to work with county staff and customize their licensing software to make the adoption of this new ordinance as seamless as possible."

Crow Wing County has established penalties for not resolving complaints, as well as fines for those falsely reporting violations. In addition, these operators must now obtain a license for “any home, cabin, condominium or similar building that is advertised as, or held out to be, a place where sleeping quarters are furnished to the public on a nightly, weekly, or for less than a 30-day time period and is not a bed and breakfast, resort, hotel or motel.”

Upon the adoption of this new ordinance, Crow Wing County will begin to enhance their services provided by LODGINGRevs through adding the permitting module and a 24/7 complaint hotline. LODGINGRevs will enable their short-term rental operators to complete their permitting process online and file complaints via the hotline, reducing the impact these calls have previously had on County staff and first responders.
