JMA Pilani Rajasthan Celebrates UN World Environment Day WED 2020 with Theme Save Earth Plant Trees Say No to Plastic

The food everyone eats, the air everyone breathes, the water everyone drinks and the climate that makes planet earth habitable all come from Mother Nature. For instance, each year, marine plants produce more than a half of atmosphere's oxygen, and a mature tree cleans the air, absorbing 22 kilos of carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen in exchange. To stop abuse of natural resources and protect planet earth, World Environment Day WED is celebrated every year across the globe on 5 June.

Starting from 1974 the celebration of WED ever year invariably provides each and everyone an opportunity to broaden the basis for an enlightened opinion and responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment. COVID-19 has thrown a spanner into the WED 2020 celebrations but the enthusiasm is unstoppable. The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres post on Twitter says “nature is sending us a clear message. We are harming the natural world, to our own detriment.”

Mrs Natarajan also gave a clarion call to all JMA students to plant a sapling at their respective homes on 5 June 2020 to mark WED and send a photograph. School gardener Sri Mahenderji dug pits in the school ground and kept the saplings ready. An ardent lover of nature, JMA Pilani Chairman Dr Suman Mishra cheered by the principal did the sapling planting. School teacher Anil Swami and NCC officer Vikas Sharma played very active roles in the celebrations.
