University of Lincoln (UK) , Rachana Sansad (Mumbai) tie up to boost student exchange program
December 09, 2011: United Kingdom-based University of Lincoln’s Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design and India’s premier Mumbai located Rachana Sansad Academy of Fine Arts and Crafts, have developed a partnership that will begin next year with a summer school in the UK. These two leading art and design schools in the UK and India have announced they are to work together on exciting plans that will include students crossing the globe to study in each other’s countries.Professor Michael Healey, Lincoln’s Professor of Drawing, visited the Academy in Mumbai earlier this year as part of a wider visit to India. He said: “Our partnership with the Rachana Sansad’s impressive Academy of Fine Arts and Crafts is in its early stages, but we are very excited to announce that discussions are underway to offer a specialist summer school programme for Rachana school students in the summer of 2012 across the disciplines of fine art, architecture and conservation.”
“Our schools of Architecture, Art and Design are very experienced in delivering summer school programmes tailored to the specific interests of our partners overseas and we look forward to welcoming Rachana students,” he added.
Lincoln also hopes to arrange a visit by Lincoln students to Rachana to experience a short course that gives them a unique insight into Indian architecture, art and design practices.
According to Dr Manjiri Thakoor, Principal of Rachana Sansad , “This tie-up will boost India-UK cultural exchange in the fields of art , culture and design. Indian students will get an access and exposure to the world’s best innovations and creativity by visiting UK and vice versa.” She stressed and emphasised the fact that with tremendous growth in technology, globalization and modernization this exchange will definitely educate students from both the countries in their academic pursuit.
With the academic year coming to an end and with the season for admissions coming up, most students wanting to study abroad are busy looking out for universities that offer not just their choice of subjects but also provide something that gives them an edge over other students on graduation. In such times, University of Lincoln stands out apart from the others. This is not just due to the wide range of courses offered but also to the emphasis that the University lays on creating professionals that match the industry standards.
To make it easier for Indian students to apply to the University of Lincoln, the University will be soon launching its one-stop admission facility in Mumbai where students can receive immediate information on their admission status and assistance to complete all their visa and legal formalities. This point of contact will make the admission process faster and easier. To put it together, this facility is going to make the University of Lincoln just a phone call away!
Elaborating on this facility in India, Prof. Ieuan Owen, Deputy Vice–Chancellor (International, Marketing and Communications) at the University of Lincoln, told media persons today, “This facility represents our commitment to the Indian community with regards to higher education. Indian students are considered among the brightest in the world and we are glad that with the help of this facility, prospective, well-qualified students can now be part of our University with an easy access to admission and further related processes which will help them in making informed decisions right from applying to the best-fit course to accommodation services, pre-arrival information etc.”
