USEI Announces Release of U-Cal 300 DICOM Calibration Software

US Electronics Inc., a leading North American diagnostic display manufacturer and supplier, announces a new version of DICOM calibration software that ensures any premium commercial or medical display meets the most demanding industry standards.

11/22/2011, Minneapolis, USA - USEI has released a new version of its medical display calibration and verification software, U-Cal 300. This software will calibrate any premium commercial or medical imaging monitor to the NEMA DICOM part 14 GSDF standard, and perform acceptance and constancy tests to AAPM TG18, DIN 6868-57, JESRA X-0093 and IEC 62563-1 standards.

U-Cal 300 is the upgraded version of the previous DICOM calibration software U-Cal 200. It is able to perform quality assurance tests along with calibration tasks, providing a full suite of display management functions. U-Cal 300 offers calibration that is much faster to use, with an improved interface and highly detailed calibration reports. Security features of version 300 include automatic database back up, preferences protected by a password, and LUT quality verified before software applies it. U-Cal 300 is compatible with more models of measurement devices and OS than the previous version, and can be easily upgraded from U-Cal 200, retaining all existing data.

“We are very pleased to release the new and improved U-Cal 300,” says Madhu Reddy, President of USEI. “This new version not only performs faster with more precise calibration, but also allows remote management of multiple workstations with the included, faster to start Remote Control System. We are confident our customers will appreciate the way that U-Cal 300 will improve display performance.”

U-Cal 300 offers a number of functions, including DICOM, CIE L* and Gamma calibration; DICOM conformance, white level, luminance level, display consistency check; acceptance and consistency tests to international medical standards. Convenient features include flexible scheduling of tasks, with notifications sent on a due date; detailed history with graphs that are stored in an automatically backed up database; calibration of multiple displays from one machine; and a free remote control license allowing supervision of multiple workstations or healthcare facilities from one location.

U-Cal 300 enables superior image quality of displays for radiologists and convenient 24 hour quality supervision for QA technicians. Improved imaging precision of U-Cal calibrated displays ensures accurate diagnosis, which is a matter of health care quality for radiologists.

The ability of U-Cal to start and schedule tasks from a local or a web server saves time and cost of quality assurance. Moreover, displays equipped with U-Cal 300 will function much longer, as the software is able to enhance imaging quality even for older monitors. Extending usable life of medical displays means additional cost savings for clinics.

U-Cal 300 calibration software will be demonstrated at RSNA 2011 in Chicago. USEI welcomes all visitors to their booth 2629 in Hall A (the South Building).
