Lead School JMA Pilani Distributes Handmade Masks and Provisions for Pilani Underprivileged facing Corona Virus Lockdown

The school takes inspiration from Mahabharat Bhagavad Gita Chpater 17 Verse 20 which says "datavyam iti yad danam diyate nupakarine, deshe kale cha patre cha tad danam sattvikam smritam" meaning Charity given to a worthy person simply because it is right to give, without consideration of anything in return, at the proper time and in the proper place, is stated to be in the mode of goodness. The three-fold divisions of danam, or charity is an act of duty to give according to one's capacity.

The Bhavishya Puran states: danamekam kalau yuge "In the age of Kali, giving in charity is the means for purification." The Ramayan states this too: pragata chari pada dharma ke kali mahun ek pradhana, jena kena bidhi dinhen dana karai kalyana. Dharma has four basic tenets, one amongst which is the most important in the age of Kali - give in charity by whatever means possible. The act of charity bestows many benefits. It reduces the attachment of the giver toward material objects; it develops the attitude of service; it expands the heart, and fosters the sentiment of compassion for others.

The COVID-19 lockdown across India today may be a luxury for the well privileged of the nation but a curse for the underprivileged migrants, daily wage workers and labor. The sudden announcement took them by surprise and shock and their capability to live life with dignity and respect was at stake. Dr Suman Mishra Chairman of JMA Pilani gave an auspicious start to Corona Virus relief by donating Rs 10,000/- on 26 Mar 2020 from her personal account to Lok Kalyan Seva Samiti for distributing to sanitizers along with 50 handmade masks by School teachers Ms Preeti Gupta and Ms Anita along with School staff Smt Bala Jangir. School teachers contributed generously for distribution of 100 packets to underprivileged containing Rice, Dal, Biscuit packets, Bathing Soap and Washing Soap.

Team JMA led by Dr Suman Mishra, Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan, Hindi Teacher Sri Mahendra Kumar, Office Supervisor Sri Gautam driven in the school vehicle by Sri Virender Sangwan went to various parts of Pilani town on Apr 1-2 to handover the packets with masks. In addition Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan on her own distributed 10 packets containing Atta, Dal, Sugar, Tea Leaves, and cooking oil.

Another 50 packets sponsored by Mumbai Entrepreneur (partner Fulchand Group) and Investor Mr Monil Sundesha who is secretary of the school management committee containing Atta, Dal, Sugar, Tea Leaves, Sugar, Potatoes and Onions. To honor the clarion call given by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi, tt is for sure that on 05 April 2020 at 9 PM for 9 minutes JMA Pilani has ensured with its humble contribution that lights will indeed glow in Pilani from one and all including the underprivileged.
