Let Jobs Find You

Let Jobs Find You

This month marks the launch of CVLook, a website with a different take on the usual method of looking for jobs and finding candidates. Founder Mr Ngo explains, “I wanted to provide a specialized service that is time and cost effective. The idea is for job seekers to list their CV to be part of a registry for employers to search. The employer can then ‘apply’ for candidates instead of the other way around.”

The site has a clear focus on its market niche and is primarily dedicated to providing an alternative to the usual candidate and job seeking process. The CVLook model potentially replaces the need for employers to place job advertisements. Employers know best who they want for a role and with CVLook they have a single source offering a registry of CVs to search and find candidates. This can save time and money while yielding results – a candidate handpicked specifically for a role. Searching for candidates on CVLook is quick and simple. CVs are classified by industry and can be searched by keywords or with a more detailed search criteria. When employers have narrowed down suitable candidates they can create a shortlist of CVs to review before contacting candidates directly to discuss the opportunity.

CVLook provides job seekers a stage to showcase their skills and credentials to attract offers from employers. Some features include help to create a CV or improve an existing one, a networking function to refer offers on to others in their network, and a resources section with relevant articles and links. The site also has value for those not actively looking for work. By listing their CV, they open the opportunity for employers to find them and present a better offer.

Privacy protection is a priority on CVLook. Personal details are hidden and it is up to the user to decide who can see their information. Mr Ngo says, “One aspect I found similar sites lacked was protecting user details. Other sites readily disclose user information to paying customers which takes the choice away from the owner of the information. I want to assure our members they can upload their details, confident their privacy is protected.” With the increasing risk of online identity theft, the user is given the responsibility of their own information and control of who has access to that information.

CVLook does not attempt to revolutionize the job and candidate seeking market. The site aims to provide another option to help job seekers find jobs and employers find candidates. With a clear focus on its niche market, CVLook is able to offer a specialized service and product that is useful to both type of user.
