MAJOR KAY ALLEN GIVES PRESENTATION ON THE TEXAS STATE GUARD TO RESIDENTS OF QUERENCIA AT BARTON CREEK
Querencia at Barton Creek senior living community recently welcomed Major Kay Allen, PhD, who spoke to residents about the history and purpose of the Texas State Guard, which traces its lineage to colonial militias and currently embodies post 9/11 military support to civil authorities.“Before the presentation, I didn’t know much about the Texas State Guard and their role in serving our nation,” said Nadia Sharp, lifestyles coordinator at Querencia. “It was such an interesting presentation, and it made us Austinities even more proud to live in the great state of Texas.”
Allen is an Executive Officer of Professional Military Education at the Texas State Guard and formerly a Director in the University of Texas’ Division of Continuing Education.
Querencia at Barton Creek is a premier life care senior living resort located at Barton Creek Boulevard and Chalk Knoll Drive in Austin, Texas, less than a mile from Barton Creek Resort & Club.
