Korilog Releases KoriBlast an Innovative Biological Sequence Analysis Tool

04-20-2007 06:01 PM CET | Science & Education

Press release from: Korilog

Korilog announced today the availability of KoriBlast, a graphical software environment dedicated to sequence data mining. KoriBlast combines BLAST searches with advanced data management capabilities and a state-of-the-art graphical user interface.

The BLAST program is at the heart of nearly all computer-based analysis of biological sequences. However, using and analysing Blast reports is time consuming and represents a tedious work. Korilog is pleased to provide researchers with KoriBlast, a reliable graphical environment dedicated to sequence data mining. KoriBlast is organised around three main modules: Search, Analyse and Filter Manager, providing cleverly integrated features.

The Search Module provides the users with a graphical BLAST scheduler capable of comparing at the same time multiple query sequences against multiple sequence databases using a network or a local BLAST system. KoriBlast allows users to scan Internet accessible sequence databases, as well as their own data.

The Analyse Module provides several graphical user interfaces and analysis tools to view and to explore BLAST results in meaningful ways, facilitating the interpretation of the data. These graphical tools can give both a general summary of the database sequences aligned with query sequences, down to very detailed views locating potentially functional regions. Moreover, KoriBlast is capable of automatically retrieving data from biological databases, integrating valuable information directly into the graphical BLAST reports.

Since all the data handled by KoriBlast is stored on the user's computer, the Filter Module can be used to query data (BLAST results along with imported data) allowing to quickly locate relevant information while reducing the amount of data to analyse. BLAST results and imported data stay available over time, providing the users with a global history of their work.
