Belmont Instrument Corporation Announces Major Order from the Dutch Military for Its Rapid Infuser, Used to Treat Severely Wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan

Belmont Instrument Corporation announced today that it has received an order for 45 of its Rapid Infuser from the Dutch military. The Belmont® Rapid Infuser, used in most major US hospitals and many others throughout the world, is the recognized standard of care for the treatment of massive blood loss.
The Belmont® Rapid Infuser has been used extensively by the US military in Iraq and Afghanistan where it has been credited with helping to save the lives of hundreds of soldiers and civilians.
The Belmont® Rapid Infuser combines advanced microprocessor technology with an efficient mechanical system to infuse large amounts of life-sustaining fluids warmed to physiological temperature at flow rates up to 1 L/min. The Rapid Infuser is equipped with multiple air, temperature, and pressure sensors to ensure maximum patient safety without requiring constant operator vigilance.
After returning from a tour in Iraq, one Army CRNA had this to say about the Rapid Infuser:
“We were able to sustain [soldiers’] lives long enough so the surgeons could fix them. When we were in Baghdad we pumped over 100 units of blood products through the Belmont on this single patient, and ten years ago…he would not have lived.”
