U.S. Army Airworthiness Certification Awarded to the Belmont® buddy lite™ Fluid Warmer

Belmont Instrument Corporation is proud to announce that the Belmont® buddy lite™ Fluid Warmer has been awarded the Airworthiness Release Certifcate (AWR) from the U.S. Army's Research Development and Engineering Command. This certification indicates that the buddy lite™ complies with U.S. Department of Defense medical device certification criteria and has been rigorously tested for use in military evacuation helicopters. Belmont Instrument is committed to providing unique products to meet the needs of military and civilian emergency rescue workers in their ongoing efforts to save lives.
To determine the airworthiness of the buddy lite™, the U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) performed laboratory testing as well as in-flight assessments, which measure the safety and reliability of a medical device under a variety of flight conditions. The USAARL evaluation includes electromagnetic interference and compatibility, extreme temperatures, vibration, exposure to dust, altitude, device usability, rapid decompression and acceleration, and crash durability.
The Belmont® buddy lite™ is a miniature battery-powered near-patient dry heat fluid warmer, which was developed based on feedback from the U.S. Military Special Operations healthcare team, and represents the latest evolution of the Belmont Buddy family which includes the Belmont® Buddy, and Belmont® buddy plus™. The buddy lite™ weighs in at a little over one pound, and features the same tiny ingenious disposable with safety features including a large air-venting membrane and flow control valves to prevent air entrainment, especially during transport. The powerful battery technology is capable of warming 3L of fluid on a single charge, and demonstrates Belmont Instrument’s dedication to providing military and civilian rescue workers with the latest technology in rapid casualty evacuation. The entire Buddy family allows for ease of patient transfer from the first point of injury to the hospital environment.
