Getting girls onside for the new football season
Written for female friends who were bemoaning the start of the new football season and the prospect of their beauty being overshadowed by that of the beautiful game, ‘Football Rules for Girls’ is a handy pocket guide that talks about the game, demystifies formations and league tables, and makes everything simple.

Fearing that the launch of the new football season will leave women, once more, in second place whenever their man’s team is playing, ‘Football Rules for Girls’ puts women right beside them.
“We can’t beat them,” Amie Walsh adds, “so we might as well join them.”
With quotes from famous football figures and the league tables for all of the football divisions in the 2011/2012 season — including the Women’s Premier League — ‘Football Rules for Girls’ re-addresses the balance by giving women the information they need to compete on an equal footing.
“This is the one book girls need to buy to understand football,” Amie Walsh says.
It will be interesting to see, however, who ends up buying the book. Will it be girls who want to join their men? Or will it be men who want to appease their girls with something more meaningful than a box of chocolates?
