Thirty-Four Eisner Award Winners and Nominees To Attend Wizard World Chicago Comic Con

A total of 34 Will Eisner Comics Industry Awards winners (19) and nominees (15) are among the more than 400 comic creators scheduled to attend Wizard World Chicago Comic Con, part of North America’s largest pop-culture tour, August 11-14 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Headliners among the winners include Brian Azzarello (“Flashpoint,” “Batman – Knight of Vengeance”), Gary Friedrich (“Ghost Rider,” “Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos”), Dave Johnson (“Deadpool,” “Punisher MAX”), Stuart Moore (“Namor: The First Mutant,” “Wolverine Noir”), Eduardo Risso (“Flashpoint,” “100 Bullets”) and Bill Sienkiewicz (“Elektra: Assassin,” “Moon Knight”).

The creators will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and sketch. Many Greater Chicago-based artists will be in attendance as well.

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comic book industry. Established in 1987, they are named for renowned cartoonist Will Eisner (creator of “The Spirit” and several award-winning graphic novels).

Chicago Comic Con is the seventh stop on Wizard World's 2011 North American tour. Hours are Thursday, August 11, 5 – 9 p.m.; Friday, August 12, noon - 8 p.m.; Saturday, August 13, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 14, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tickets are available in advance online at http://www.wizardworld.com/chicago.html at a savings over tickets purchased at the door. Tickets are free for children age 10 and under when accompanied by a paid adult (limit two children per adult). VIP packages with special entry and exclusive items are also available on a limited basis.
