New Delhi, December 11, 2018: “I have been a long-time supporter of SOS Children’s Villages. It is a wonderful organisation. My family and I are actually starting an SOS Village in Los Angeles. It is a wonderful thing keeping siblings together. It has professionally trained foster parents and great stability for the children. It has made my trip here and my family’s trip really worthwhile to meet the children,” said Christian Bale, the Batman actor, after meeting the children of SOS Children’s Village Alibaug, at the World Premiere for Netflix's Mowgli: Legend of The Jungle, which was recently held in Mumbai.

SOS Children’s Villages is a leading international child care organisation. In India, it is operational as SOS Children’s Villages of India (SOS India), and focusses on long-term family-based care for onceparentless and abandoned children. It fosters their holistic upbringing with siblings, a mother, in a family-like environment and a community where they can grow up with love, safety and dignity.

Supporting the cause of 20 million parentless and abandoned children in India, Bale, his wife SibiBlazic, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Freida Pinto, signed the SOS India pledge wall, appealing to the masses for associating themselves with the cause.

Anuja Bansal, Secretary General, SOS Children's Villages of India, said, “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the celebrities for showing their support for the cause. Every child in need of care should be provided a loving home with a mother and every child must be respected and protected. It is only by investing in children today, we can succeed in promoting equitable, inclusive and sustainable development for the nation. We hope that these endorsements will motivate many more people and they will come forward to offer their support to us and to the once parentless children in need of care and protection. It will give us the strength and conviction to provide loving homes to many more children.”

She added, “Such meetings with celebrities, also provide a wonderful exposure to our children and convey to them the message of following their passion and heart.”

It requires just INR 10, 800 to support a child for one whole year. Not every child is lucky to have a home. India alone has 20 million children without adequate parental care. They need support as they too deserve a loving home.

About SOS Children’s Villages of India
Established in 1964, SOS India is a non-government, non-profit, voluntary childcare organization. It has since been involved in providing parentless and abandoned children a ‘family-like’ environment which includes a mother, brothers and sisters, a loving home and a community. The aim of the SOS India is to build families for these children so that they grow up with love, respect and security. SOS India is a well-known credible organization and the first childcare NGO to get a CRISIL accreditation in India for strong delivery capability and high financial proficiency. In March 2016 and then again in March 2018, SOS India was certified by TRACE, the world’s leading anti-bribery standard-setting organization, which demonstrates a commitment to commercial transparency. SOS India has been working tirelessly to ensure that parentless and abandoned children do not grow up alone and their lives are transformed by its specialized long-term care programme or preventive short-term care programme.
