LOCAL JEWELER WINS NATIONAL DESIGN AWARD
The JCK DESIGNERS CHOICE AWARDS
ROCHESTER, MI. – July 12, 2011 –Daren Schurman, owner of Aurum Design Jewelry has been awarded First Place for the JCK Designer’s Choice Award for 2011. Now in its fourth year, the JCK Jewelers Choice Awards has continued to grow in participation and prestige. It sets the highest industry standards for honoring the best work of the most innovative and creative jewelry designers in America.
Aurum Design elevates jewelry to a fine art, transforming a ring into a sculpture; attended to from every angle and executed with 30 years of experience. Daren’s designs reference architecture, with multiple levels that interact with each other to build an intricate, detailed, composition. The award winning ring is a mastery of modern jewelry design with 82 points of diamonds that surround and encage a luxurious, chocolate, South Sea pearl.
As a luxury item, jewelry is facing some challenging times and many jewelers are not taking the risks of creating new and innovative pieces as they have in the past. Rather than cut back and size down Daren is sticking to what he knows best, good design and quality craftsmanship. Daren admits his designs are not ordinary by any means and notes, “I’m bored with what’s out there, it’s all been done before, and I’m trying to keep it unique, my own.
