These days, Chinese tourists are placing Europe high up on their list of popular holiday destinations. According to a recent study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, the number of Chinese travellers to Europe will have increased fourfold by 2020. ARCOTEL has already recognized this growing potential and is consequently gearing up to meet the needs of the new target group.

According to a topical study conducted by the Boston Consulting Group, China will have developed into the world's second largest travel and tourism market by 2013. In addition, the number of Chinese tourists to Europe is expected to quadruple to 8 million up to 2020.

ARCOTEL Hotel AG CEO Manfred Mayer explains: "We are absolutely sure that Austrian hospitality is popular with everybody. This is why we intend to set timely steps in order to adapt our hotels and online offer to the requirements of Chinese travellers."

ARCOTEL has already had its website translated into Chinese. In addition, the group's employees cooperate with professional interpreters and consultants who assist them in overcoming language and culture-related barriers and recognising the special needs of Chinese tourists.

"The translation of our website just marks one of the first steps in our attempt to exploit the potential of this huge market. For the future, we will continue to perfect both our response to the needs of Chinese travellers and our understanding of their travel habits", adds CEO Mayer.

Chinese tourists constitute a fast-growing target group for the European market. On 12 February 2004, the European Community signed an agreement with the National Tourism Administration of the People's Republic of China to facilitate Chinese group tourism to Europe. Since then, the number of Chinese tourists has been steadily on the rise.

The ARCOTEL group, one of the largest privately owned Austrian enterprises in the tourism sector, positions itself clearly in the category of business and city hotels. It combines the personal and individual environment of a family-run enterprise with international standard, top quality and a sound economic basis. Established in 1989, the group currently comprises nine hotels in Austria, Germany and Croatia with a total of 1,563 rooms and employs 728 staff members. 2012 will witness the opening of the ARCOTEL Onyx Hamburg. www.arcotelhotels.com
