JMA Pilani Rajasthan Celebrates 73rd India Independence Day

Though the unprecedented rains at Pilani sought to be a dampener and an obstacle to the 73rd Independence Day celebrations, the enthusiasm of the children and the preparedness by the school administration ensured that the event was observed with patriotic fervor, gaiety and enthusiasm. Having made enormous progress from 1947 in education, science, technology, medicine, infrastructure, military, sports India today is a global power and is marching forward to development and prosperity. This indeed is an occasion for every Indian citizen to recall and remember the countless freedom fighters who fought fearlessly against the British might and sacrificed their lives. JMA Pilani has a rich tradition of celebrating various days of national and international significance throughout the year. On 15 Aug 2019, a colorful function was organized to celebrate 73rd India Independence Day.

Highly respected and well known Police officer Circle Inspector Madan Lal Karwasra of Pilani (District Jhunjhunu) Thana was the Chief Guest for the occasion. He is a science graduate from Punjab University Chandigarh and also holds BEd and MA in Hindi. He started his career as a government school teacher and after a year joined Police services as Inspector in 1999. He has worked in different districts of Rajasthan which include Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Ganganagar and Sikar. He has the reputation having arrested some of the dreaded gangsters and solving various dacoity cases such as 35 Kg silver theft from Balaji temple for which he had received several awards like Bishnoi Ratan and rewards of more than INR 1.5 Lakhs.

Indian Film Association had awarded him for confiscating more thousand 50 thousand pirated movie CDs and machines for making them from Nokha Bikaner. The Chief Guest was received with traditional honour of tilak, hand bandhei safa and bouquet. After the chief guest unfurled the tricolor, the school band played the national anthem. Mrs Booma Natarajan in her welcome address thundered that independence does not mean mere change of rule by Indians after Britishers but a nation assured with freedom of thought, freedom of expression and freedom of action.

Ms Aarti Kashiramka who teaches Economics introduced the chief guest and his credentials to the audience. The Chief Guest did the customary parade inspection and took the salute at the march past. The patriotic song by school choir set the mood for the celebrations that followed. The band display by the girls despite being indoors was truly spell binding. The patriotic speech in English by Ms Aiswarya Saini of Class IX which highlighted various freedom fighters was appreciated by one and all.

The Karate display was as usual spectacular. Mr Kanav who is pursuing a dual degree in MSc (Hons) Economics and BE (Hons) Computer Science from globally reputed Birla Institute of Technology and Science – BITS Pilani gave an inspiring speech in Hindi highlighting patriotism. In the interschool Basketball tournament which was keenly contested by various schools of Pilani and Chirawa, hosts JMA emerged on top and the Chief Guest gave the prizes and certificates. The runner-up was Pilani Public School - PPS.

The Chief Guest in his speech recalled his school NCC days and shared his experiences with the audience. He reiterated that students had a stellar role to play in making Swachh Bharat Mission a grand success and urged the students to come forward and serve the nation with pride, honesty and ethics. Hindi Teacher Shri Mahender Kumar anchored the proceedings and proposed vote of thanks. JMA Pilani Chairperson Dr Suman Mishra and Mrs Madal Lal Karwasra also graced the occasion. The students and parents of JMA when the celebrations ended left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a shining jewel in the crown among the schools at Pilani.

NCC cadet Nishit Jhakodia participated in Republic Day Camp RDC 2019 and Cadet Anshu Dara went for Shivaji Trail Trek 2018, Cadet Ankit Budania went for Best Leadership Camp at Kota. Recently Annu of class VI won gold medal for age group below 12 at Asian yoga championship held at Amritsar. Yoga, Karate, Painting and Music are not just part of school routine but a way of life for the students.
