Press release from: Bavarian Inn

Frankenmuth, MI – May 31, 2011 – Frankenmuth’s Bavarian Inn Lodge and Conference Center president, Judy Zehnder Keller, is the recipient of the Jaycees preeminent honor – the 2011 Herbert L. Keinath Distinguished Service Award. This award is given exclusively to Frankenmuth residents based on years of selfless contributions to the local community. It is considered the highest community service award in Frankenmuth.

The Frankenmuth Noon Rotary Club, which nominated Zehnder Keller for the honor, said the daughter of “Tiny” and Dorothy has lived her entire life “in and for Frankenmuth. Her pride in her community is unsurpassed.”

Zehnder Keller has a long history of civic involvement, including serving as a board member of the State of Michigan Travel Commission, the Michigan Hotel/Motel Resort Association, the Frankenmuth Downtown Development Authority, Saginaw Valley State University Board of Fellows, and the Frankenmuth Sister City Committee.

Zehnder Keller and the Bavarian Inn Lodge and Conference Center has been heaped with recognition of late. First, Zehnder Keller was ranked in the top 10 of Leading Moms in Business for 2011 by StartupNation.com. Earlier this month, the Lodge was named a first time winner in the category “Greatest of the Great Lakes Bay Place for a Wedding Reception” as voted by readers of the Great Lakes Bay regional lifestyle magazine.

“It is truly humbling to receive recognition,” said Zehnder Keller, “especially in such considerable quantity. These awards reinforce what our customers tell us each day – that we’re doing it right.”

Zehnder Keller has built her life on the foundation of service, learning only from the best.

“I learned everything from my parents,” she said. “It is our calling. Serving our guests and promoting Frankenmuth comes second nature to me. Maybe it’s in our blood, or in our sauerkraut.”

In addition to serving as president of the Lodge, Zehnder Keller also serves as president of the Frankenmuth Cheese Haus, Frankenmuth Gift Shop, Inc. and the Frankenmuth Motel.
