Management Simulations Reaches Milestone With Registration of 300,000th Student
NORTHFIELD, Ill., March 21, 2007 – Management Simulations, Inc. (MSI®), the largest business simulation provider for university, college and high school courses, today said that it has registered the 300,000th student since the company's launch in 1986. The milestone was reached on March 4, 2007, when Ann Culley, a student of professor Calvin Fowler at Webster University, registered for the Capstone® Business Simulation on MSI’s website.MSI said it viewed the 300,000th registration as symbolic of the company's rapid growth, with the majority of registrations coming within the last three years as technology continues to become a norm in the classroom. Capstone is widely recognized as one of the best and most reliable business simulations used worldwide for educational and training purposes.
"Three hundred thousand of anything is a lot and it's certainly a terrific achievement for this company," said Dan Smith, president and founder of MSI. "What it really says to us, however, is that we've been fortunate to have such supportive schools over the last twenty years to provide students with a distinctive learning experience."
The road to 300,000 registrations passed a number of markers. Capstone was first developed as an executive education program for several FORTUNE 500 corporations. The program met with great success and was soon introduced to colleges and universities and additional corporate clients. By 2000, MSI had introduced the Foundation® Business Simulation and more than 75,000 individuals were participating in its Capstone and Foundation simulation-based programs. In 2003, MSI doubled the size of its Northfield, Ill., office and introduced the web-based versions of the programs. In 2006, MSI introduced Comp-XM®, the new program for accreditation and student assessment, which will come out of beta testing in June 2007. Today, MSI programs are used in more than 550 colleges and universities, including Harvard and Northwestern as well as 250 high schools and some of the largest corporations in the world.
