Altia to Present at Ward’s Auto Interiors Conference

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO April 26, 2011 - Altia announces their participation in the upcoming Ward’s Automotive Interiors Conference on May 17, 2011 at the Henry Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan. Steve Tengler, Altia’s User Experience Director, will join auto interiors professionals from Continental Corporation, Johnson Controls and Lear Corporation in a panel discussion entitled “A Fresh Look at the HMI and Center Stack.”

Each panelist will offer a brief presentation relating to the panel theme. Tengler’s presentation, “User Experience vs. User Interface,” will begin with the basics – defining the difference between these two common, but sometimes misused and misunderstood, terms. He will discuss the best method for designing HMIs for an optimal user experience, as well as offering insight about how a development team knows when they have gotten it right.

Steve Tengler is no stranger to Human-Machine Interface design and deployment. He is a proven expert in this field with years of experience on some of the country's top automotive teams. Before joining Altia, Steve managed the global HMI development team at OnStar – GM's award-winning driver assistance system. His team pioneered innovative services like the OnStar eNav feature and the Injury Severity Predictor. In the past two decades, Steve has also put his expertise to work at GM, Nissan, Ford, and Visteon. Steve is a member of the national Human Factors & Ergonomics Society and is Co-Chair of the Driver-Vehicle Interface Task Force within the Society of Automotive Engineers.
