Altia Announces New Release: Altia Design 10

08-17-2011 08:50 AM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Altia, Incorporated

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - August 16, 2011 – Altia, Inc., the award-winning provider of user interface engineering tools for embedded systems, follows up their successful February 2011 release of version 9.2 with an even more powerful Altia Design 10.0.

Altia’s toolkit allows users to build user interface models from scratch or import artists’ assets from industry-standard design programs like Adobe® Photoshop®, Adobe® Illustrator® and Microsoft® Visio® -- giving development teams the capability to create a completely custom user interface (UI) without hand-coding graphics. These UI models can be connected to a variety of simulation tools or C code to create a complex, user-driven model, The Altia model can be used for management reviews and user testing -- eliminating the need for costly hardware mockups. Once validated and approved, Altia customers automatically generate graphics code for that same Altia model and deploy it directly to production hardware.

The latest release, Altia Design 10, offers improved productivity tools – like the intuitive new Navigator and the powerful Classing feature. Altia has expanded the variety of assets that design teams can integrate into their Altia projects to include SVG content, which offers crisper scaled images and lower memory cost. Altia is also now offering an Adobe® Flash® Player Object add-on to Altia Design, which allows developers to embed pre-built Flash animations or media into their Altia UIs.

Peter Abowd, President of Altia, comments, "Altia Design 10 advances our users' ability to collaborate on large user interface projects. The new features in this release make their use of our tool easier and more efficient – with enhanced support of vector assets, the capability to build complex user interfaces with reusable content via Classing, and the ability to manage content of large designs with the new Navigator. All of that combined with our exciting new offering, the Adobe® Flash® Player add-on, means that Altia Design 10 will continue to keep the Altia User Community at the leading edge of integrated content."

Also new to this release, users can now include sophisticated reflections with the Blur effect, improve font rendering with the Freetype Font engine, and optimize image formats for load times or memory usage with External Image Processing. For a full list of the new features -- including three new DeepScreen code generator targets -- go to www.altia.com/release10 and get a sneak peek.
