High performance i.MX8M SOM from iwave

Bangalore, India – April 24, 2019: iWave Systems today announced another addition to their leading SMARC System on Modules (SOM) with the introduction of iW-RainboW-G33M. Based on NXP® i.MX 8M family of applications processors, the SOM is ideal for high-performance audio, voice and video processing applications that scale from commercial products to industrial solutions.

The NXP i.MX 8M SOM integrates up to 4 x Arm® Cortex®-A53 @ up to 1.5 GHz, 1 x Cortex®-M4F @ 266 MHz for low-power and real-time operation, combined with H.265 4K60 decode and GC7000 Lite GPU, for high multimedia performance.

It features up to 2GB LPDDR4, up to 64 GB eMMC and a variety of high-speed interfaces and connectivity options like USB3.0, PCIe2.0, Gigabit Ethernet PHY and on-board Wi-Fi 802.11n + BLE4.0 combo module, offering a complete solution on a highly integrated SMARC R2.0 compatible package.

The SOM supports dual display and is designed to deliver video quality with full 4K ultra HD resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR), which helps bring vivid images with superior color depth, brightness and contrast. Additionally, the SOM can bring high levels of pro-audio fidelity to the next generation of connected speakers, sound bars and AV receivers.

It runs on Yocto Linux 4.9.51 & Android Oreo 8.1.0*. This SOM is a cost-effective, high-performance platform for audio/video streaming, voice assistants, general purpose Human Machine Interface (HMI) solutions and mobile computers.

“iWave is committed to delivering high quality modules that will help our customers build products much quicker and with ease. It is a great opportunity for us to collaborate with NXP and we are excited to launch the new i.MX 8M based SOMs for multimedia processing applications,” said Abdullah Khan, President, iWave Systems Technologies, India.

“NXP’s i.MX 8M family of applications processors are ideally suited to drive a whole range of audio, voice and video processing applications,” said Robert Thompson, Ecosystem Director for i.MX applications processors. “We are happy to collaborate with iWave, who has a long history in providing the technical support capabilities, to expand our portfolio of embedded SOM solutions.”
