Representatives from leading European industry magazines visit Zünd facilities.

Altstätten, Switzerland (March 2010). During the course of their annual general assembly, the EDP Association paid a visit to Zünd Systemtechnik AG in Altstätten. The high-tech firm located in Switzerland’s Rhine Valley welcomed 14 editors-in-chief from Austria, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Turkey, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland.

EDP, the European Digital Press Association, is a network of 17 magazines prominent in the large-format printing industry, with the purpose of serving as European platform for the digital printing industry. In 2006 the organization also began giving out annual EDP Awards. An independent jury of professionals recognizes outstanding solutions and products from the past 12 months. Zünd was honored with the EDP award in 2007 for “Best Cutting Equipment” and in 2009, for “Best Digital Finishing Device”.

Insights into the world of digital cutting

After a series of interesting presentations and videos, the editors were invited to tour Zünd’s facilities and catch a glimpse of the company’s production of multifunctional flatbed cutting/routing systems. An impressive demonstration further illustrated the varied capabilities of digital cutters. From taking a photograph, through digital printing and finishing, all the way to the finished product, visitors were able to witness the entire digital workflow. Zünd cutters were shown processing rigid materials, rolls of textiles, as well as producing short-run presentation folders. At the conclusion of the tour of the showroom, the industry experts were noticeably impressed with the versatility and range of applications for Zünd‘s digital cutting systems.

During the subsequent luncheon, some very interesting topics arose that made for lively discussions.
