World's First International Centers for Outsourcing Studies

The BCI Board finally approved inclusion of the program for setting up International Centers of Outsourcing Studies (ICOS) in institutions of Higher learning across carefully selected geographies. The ICOS program was conceived by the Global Partnerships Management Group of BCI after receiving numerous requests from universities across the world for establishing such centers within their campuses under license from BCI. The ICOS program of BCI intends to empower emerging BPO nations with the knowledge to build human capacities and skillsets and improve employability of their youth and in the process, help these nations develop self sufficiency in BPO talent development.

As expected, the ICOS program is exciting universities across the world specially those in Africa and Asia. They are viewing ICOS as an opportunity to add a new discipline in their portfolio and at the same time get easy access to BCI’s global employability programs which help even average students get well-paying white-collar jobs in BPO/ KPO industry after they graduate. So far, institutions in India, Mauritius, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya have been identified among more than fifty such requests.

By 2011-end, BCI hopes to create 8 ICOS in Africa and Asia alone. Notably, an ICOS can be upgraded to a Center of Excellence after three provenly successful years of capacity building and value creation for their local BPO industry.
