First Oral Drug for Multiple Sclerosis Among Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients Added to Upgraded Pharmaceutical Substances

Stuttgart, Germany – Thieme Publishing Group announces that “Pharmaceutical Substances Version 3.4” is now online. Compiled by Prof. A. Kleemann, Prof. J. Engel, Prof. B. Kutscher and Dr. D. Reichert, renowned leaders in the field, this comprehensive electronic reference to every significant pharmaceutical compound contains syntheses, patents and applications of all FDA approved active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and is available through Thieme Chemistry (thieme-chemistry.com).

"With this release we have added 16 new API monographs, most of them have been approved recently," stated Prof. Dr. Axel Kleemann. "Among these are included Fingolimod, the first oral drug for Multiple Sclerosis, and the 3rd taxane anticancer drug Cabazitaxel. Along with these additions more than 40 entries have been updated."

Developed in association with InfoChem and FIZ Chemie, this digital version of the information resource is a web-based, easy-to-navigate portal that utilizes standard browser technology. This latest upgrade, brings the total number of APIs to 2,511 and includes 47 updated syntheses.

Endusers appreciate the system's easy-to-use interface, which facilitates locating data rapidly and allows them to graphically search structures using ISIS Draw, ChemDraw or a built-in Java Applet. “Pharmaceutical Substances 3.4” supports both ChemDraw 9.0.1 and 10.0 and is compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers on PC's and Safari 2.0 on MAC's running OS X.
