Maximize Students’ Lab Time with the Thieme Dissector
New York/Stuttgart – Thieme is proud to announce the launch of the Thieme Dissector. A first of its kind, completely customizable, web-based tool for faculty to prepare perfect dissection guides for their students. The Thieme Dissector is organized by body region and into 90 dissection modules, featuring text, images, and pop-ups. Instructors can reorder the sequence of modules and completely customize the text to match their preferences on how to dissect and what structures to identify. Instructors can also choose to include pop-ups showing muscle attachment, innervation and action in great detail. Students will benefit from the stunning, high-quality illustrations, adapted from the award-winning Atlas of Anatomy by Gilroy et al.
“The ability to customize a well designed, professionally created product and the fact that the Dissector was available on-line were the things I liked most about the Thieme Dissector” says Dr. George Mulheron, Ph.D Assistant Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey’s Robert WoodJohnson MedicalSchool – one of the first adopters of the Thieme Dissector.
Institutions will be able to subscribe to the Thieme Dissector for their faculty and students on a rolling annual basis. Students can access their instructor’s customized dissection guide online, download it to their computers, view it on iPads or iPhones, or simply print it out.
More than 250 short, narrated high-resolution videos showing dissection steps and structure identification will be made available for faculty and students later in 2011. In Spring 2012, multiple-choice lab practical questions with answer feedback will be added for self-assessment or use in exams.
