Press release from: Maginious PR and Multimedia Firm LLC

/ PR Agency: Maginious PR and Multimedia Firm LLC
LOS ANGELES, CA, - Beginning February 2011, Maginious PR and Multimedia Firm LLC will launch The Blink campaign. “Blink” is defined as the national campaign that will raise money to aide clinics and programs for Americans coping with HIV/AIDS. In a recent study by the CDC, it was discovered that every ten minutes an American is infected with HIV/AIDS, which can happen in the “blink” of an eye. Our goal is to raise $15 million in HIV/AIDS funds within two years of this campaign through sponsorships, donations, charity benefits, parties and events. The funds will be disbursed to charity-based organizations across the country, and allow them the resources to continue programs and clinics for those coping with HIV/AIDS.

The campaign will target middle and high school students in cities, such as: Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, Washington D.C., etc. “This mission would be very difficult if not for some of our supporters in different areas around the country, I am glad to say that this support continues to grow and make this campaign stronger, as well as the most unique campaign in history,” says Ty Farley, CEO at Maginious PR.

“We want to take this campaign and do what others have not done. We want prevention and awareness to be at the head of this campaign,” says Farley.
Every year, 56,300 Americans are diagnosed with HIV. In 2009, 33.2 million people were infected with HIV/AIDS. “The HIV infection continues to severely affect young African Americans in the United States. In fact, Black youths represent half of all new HIV infections among young people aged 13 to 29. These numbers underscore the need to reach a new generation with effective HIV prevention programs and messages. We simply cannot afford to lose the next generation to this potentially deadly, but preventable disease. Young Black women are far more infected with HIV than young women of other races. The rate of new infections among young Black females aged 13 to 29 is 11 times higher than that of young white females and four times that of young Hispanic females. The vast majority of young Black women with HIV are infected through heterosexual contact," said Thelma McClinton, Disease Intervention Specialist.

“It is important to understand that this campaign is not just for the African American community alone, but for everything that is and that can be affected by this disease. Everyone needs to be educated and everyone needs to know their status,” says Farley.
