Aspen Pharma care, a South Africa’s drug maker has launched a triple combination of tablet for the treatment of HIV in the country where the HIV virus is the most prevalent. The company's new Emdolten drug is a once a day tablet which is in the form of dolutegravir, an antiretroviral medication that balances the drug’s resistance. The company has launched Aspen Stavudine which was its first generic ARV drug in 2003 at a peak time when the country was suffering with a high rate of HIV infection. There is no vaccination to prevent the HIV disease. Current treatments will only help the patients to manage the disease where as the fast spreading virus has been a challenge to the medical community as it often develops a resistance to the medicines.

Aspen Pharma care holdings Limited is a South Africa based drug maker company founded in 1850 and became a public limited company in 1997. It is a multinational and largest manufacturer of drugs in Africa with head quarters at South Africa.
