Round Table on Rural Entrepreneurship at Shridhar University Pilani Rajasthan

Rural entrepreneurship stands as a vehicle to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities and to sustain a healthy economy and environment.

It is known that development agencies see rural entrepreneurship as an enormous employment potential and political leaders see it as the key strategy to prevent rural unrest while farmers see it as an instrument for improving farm earnings. Women who play the role of effective change makers see it as an employment possibility near their homes which provides autonomy, independence and a reduced need for social support. Institutions and individuals promoting rural development now see entrepreneurship as a strategic development intervention that could accelerate the rural development process.

Considering the above, on November 20, 2010 Way to Transform Shridhar University Pilani conducted a Round Table on Rural Entrepreneurship at the University premises. Dr Kamal Taori and Irmel Marla from India Germany collaborative International Institute for Holistic Research and Voluntary action who shared details of issues involved in Rural Marketing. Mr KR Arya Director General National Institute for Entrepreneurship & Small Business Development NOIDA also shared his views. Mr Rajpurohit from Go Seva Ayog highlighted various facets of rural entrepreneurship.

Other participants from the University included Chancellor Mr Vijay Pal Yadav, Major General (Retd) S S Dhaka, Prof BR Natraajan, Prof Nesamoorthy, Prof Yogesh, Mr Kamal Vyas, Ms Kitty Mukherjee and Mr RL Bishnoi. Mr Manoj Parihar Manager from ICICI Pilani branch and Vice Chairman of Wardha Cooperative Bank along with a team of three young charted accountants were also present. The discussions focused on the rural entrepreneurship potential and the environment that is essential to nurture the same.
