Driven by a greater demand than expected, the market of integrated mobile devices - smart-phones - should grow this year of 55.4%, 10% more than previously estimated. IDC has revised upwards its estimates and announced that in 2010 269.6 million smart phones will be sold, compared with 173.5 million sold during 2009.

This is why the Proximity Mobile Marketing has been enhanced by a new tool: the Wi-Fi Marketing. The solution proposed by Waymedia (http://www.waymedia.it/), leader in the field of advertising via Bluetooth, gives users the possibility to browse for free mobile sites and, for iPhone owners, to navigate and install web-apps without passing through the apple store. All absolutely free of charge or the end-user, exploiting the Wi-Fi functionality of the smart-phones.

The real innovation, compared to traditional mobile sites or iPhone application from apple-store, is that the communication is location based. This way companies can take advantage of an additional tool to deliver information strictly related with the location where the interaction takes place in order to better address the target audience and with the possibility to remotely administrate all of the multimedia content available (from mobile sites to iPhone web-app) without any hosting or publishing cost.

The solution has been used for the first time in Germany during a Mercedes exhibition. The Bluetooth and WiFi mix has been a Marketing success, with over 5,000 multimedia content downloaded trough Bluetooth and over 1,000 Wi-Fi accesses.
While thousands of multimedia content were distributed via Bluetooth (animated gifs, Java applications, video), visitors could access via Wi-Fi mobile sites reporting detailed descriptions of the latest Mercedes cars, and, trough a simple subscription form, book a test drive within the Mercedes dealer nearest to their home.
Mobile sites that, in case of the iPhone, were veritable web-app customers could install onto their iPhone for later consultations.

In the U.S., the Wi-Fi marketing has been adopted inside some shopping mall to set-up real time promotions. Just connecting to the malls Wi-Fi network customers could browse a mobile-site landing page showing offerings from the shops nearby (promotions changing every 30 minutes), customers could also save onto their phones, discount coupons to be edeemed in the points of sale.

At the same time via Bluetooth were distributed animated images associated to different promotions (updated every 30 minutes).

Waymedia (http://www.waymedia.it/) thus increases its products portfolio offering to its customers always the most innovative proximity marketing solutions.
