Nintendo DS R4 Card Receives SDHC Compatibility

10-14-2010 12:08 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: DSCardWorld

The original Nintendo DS R4 card was released in 2007, and revolutionised the way people play on their Nintendo DS consoles. Users would not only be able to play regular games on their console, but use them to play MP3s, read eBooks, and potentially watch video as well.

The new R4 SDHC flash card has changed this substantially. The original R4v2 card could only accept up to two gigabytes of Micro-SD TransFlash memory, while the new R4 SDHC card can accept up to a huge 32GB capacity. This means that it would then be possible to store several full-length DVD movies comfortably on each Micro-SD card. And since the resolution of a Nintendo DS is not as large as a TV, this probably means movies themselves could be smaller and more of them could fit on a card.

Many cards have come out onto the market since the introduction of the original R4v2. Some of the first cards to be released include the DSTT and M3DS Real cards, which were quite popular until Nintendo released the newer DSi generation of consoles. Since then, DSi compatible cards have been released including the R4i SDHC card (the DSi compatible version of the R4 SDHC), Acekard 2i, EZFlash Vi, iEDGE DS, and so forth. However, there has been a distinct pattern in the industry to shift attention away from regular DS and DS Lite compatible cards since the release of the DSi and DSi XL consoles.

It is for this reason that the R4 SDHC is special. In Fall / Autumn 2010 a revamp of the entire card was announced, and the card was to be rebranded the R4 SDHC v2.10T. The card came in new golden packaging and boasted new compatibility with many of the newest games and homebrew software available on the Nintendo DS. This is important because it has been a very long time since any exclusively DS and DS Lite cards have been updated. The R4 SDHC has re-established itself as the market leader in this regard and is once again the card of choice for consumers who have not yet upgraded to a Nintendo DSi console.

There are many clone and fake copies of the R4 SDHC produced by rival factories to the original in Asia. For this reason, make sure that you purchase your cards directly from a reputable store that stocks only genuine cards.

DS and DS Lite enthusiasts can buy R4 SDHC cards from http://www.DSCardWorld.com All cards are dispatched next-day and the business is based in the United States of America. Each card is individually tested before it gets sent off to the customer, which guarantees the card's quality. Their R4 SDHC Card after sales service is e-mail based and available 24 hours a day.
