Press release from: Translators' Aid Project

After the earthquake in Haiti in January the translator Martina Birkhoff from Muenster, Germany, asked her colleagues to donate one euro of every translation assignment to the victims. The translators who participated in fund-raising “produced“ 1,280 euros, which were divided between three charity organisations: Order or Malta, Help and Lespwa. On request of the participantgs, the Translators’ Aid Project (TAP) was established. The participating translators continue to contribute a set amount as donation every month, resulting from their translation assignments. In future, TAP continues to donate the funds collected to selected charity organisations and projects that have committed themselves to emergency and disaster aid world-wide. Any person or entity in or outside the translation sector is welcome to support TAP’s work by money and goods donations.

The translator’s aid project TAP was established in January 2010. Its objective is emergency and disaster aid, but even long-term development aid projects are supported by money and goods donations.
