Former Wekiva Springs Patient Featured on A&E’s “Intervention”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – (April 8, 2010) – Wekiva Springs Center, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, and one of its former patients was featured on the Arts and Entertainment (A&E) network series, “Intervention”, on Saturday, April 3, at 3 p.m.

Pam, a Wekiva Springs success story, was a 49-year-old alcoholic suffering from abuse, multiple failed marriages and horrific molestation as a child. Her family had already lost one sibling to cirrhosis of the liver and feared Pam would suffer a similar fate if not professionally treated.
The “Intervention” specialist entered Pam into rehabilitation at Wekiva Springs where she participated in a 90-day treatment program. She emerged from the program a changed woman and has been sober for the past three years.

The “Intervention” television series profiles people whose dependence on drugs and/or alcohol or other compulsive behavior has brought them to a point of personal crisis and estranged them from their friends and loved ones. Each “Intervention” episode ends with a surprise intervention that is staged by family and friends of the alcohol or drug addict, and which is conducted by one of two “Intervention” specialists, Jeff VanVonderen and Candy Finnigan.

“Intervention” raises awareness about the alternatives and treatment options available to those who suffer from an alcohol or drug addiction and gives hope to families who have nowhere left to turn.
