MediMap - Cooperation Webtool for the Medical Technology

MediMap (Medical Technologies Map of European Regions and Clusters) was developed in the framework of the EU INNOFIRE project. The objective is to link up the ten European regions involved and their players in the medical technology sector both from the business and scientific communities as well as from politics, to make the strengths of these regions and clusters transparent throughout Europe, to develop further their cluster policy and to facilitate the formation of international partnerships. MediMap is the core module of the project and, as a medical technology map of European regions and clusters, it represents an innovative business portal for the initiation of new co-operation and business opportunities. Target groups are enterprises, universities and research institutions as well as economic development bodies, clusters, networks and initiatives active in the field of medical technology in Europe. The web tool presents the main players in the medical technology sector in Europe on a technology map in graphical form and provides an insight into their company profiles and interest in co-operation. MediMap identifies these players on the basis of a map-based or text-based search. The results are displayed simultaneously by technology and by region - within seconds. This is unique in Europe to date. The advantages are obvious. MediMap is an excellent marketing platform for one’s own organisation (company profile, co-operation profile), facilitates the initiation of new business opportunities on the basis of preferences which are anchored in search options, supports direct communication possibilities with the selected partners – all contact data is available. That’s why you should take the opportunity now to profit from these advantages and become a member of the MediMap community: www.medimap.eu because all registered members can enjoy free membership until 30.06.2007. The official start of MediMap will take place at the MEDICA trade exhibition in Düsseldorf on 17 November 2006 from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm in Hall 4, Stand A59.

The Centre for Innovation and Technology in NRW, in short ZENIT, was founded in 1984 to assist small and medium-sized enterprises in North Rhine-Westphalia in the development and introduction of future-oriented innovations and thus to support the structural change urgently needed in the region. The three equal shareholders of the organisation, which was unique at the time in Germany, were the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the ZENIT Trägerverein e.V., an association of some 250 enterprises from a wide variety of sectors, and the Westdeutsche Landesbank. Through the consortium of banks which now includes the Association of Private Banks and public banks, ZENIT has direct contact and access like no other consulting company to enterprises, the financial sector and to political players. The model which describes the joint activities undertaken to handle the structural change is known as a “Public Private Partnership”.

Some 50 qualified and experienced employees take care of their primarily small and medium-sized clientele with a wide range of services tailored to their special requirements. Partly with the support of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the European Union, ZENIT gets its customers fit for the European market as well as for globalisation and helps them open up new markets and initiate useful national and international partnerships. In concrete terms that means the organisation of successful joint stands at international exhibitions, intensive assistance before, during and after the event as well as the mediation of interesting business contacts through international networks.
On behalf of the Federal State, ZENIT organises seminars and workshops on topics relevant to small and medium-sized enterprises and its practice-oriented consulting ser-vices are a source of assistance for firms with innovative ideas and technologies.

In the framework of its role as Euro Info Centre and Innovation Relay Centre of the European Commission, ZENIT also helps its clients in all issues concerning Europe as well as in their applications for European funding and the pan-European marketing of technical and technological innovations.
