Altia Executive Contributor to New SAE J2746 Software Assessment Repository

03-24-2010 10:14 AM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Altia

Altia congratulates SAE International on their launch of the SAE J2746 Software Assessment Repository, a program that not only provides direction to automotive embedded software developers about how to effectively report their software development capabilities, but also publish and promote this information to their base of customers and prospects.

This repository consists of an online web-based database system that facilitates accurate and secure sharing of corporations’ software development capabilities. It reports the results from industry accepted assessment methods – like SPICE© and CMMI® -- and provides guidelines for understanding the results in a uniform manner. The uniform interpretation of assessment results helps to ensure that software development organizations are compared solely on the measured capability of their software solutions. The repository can be accessed at www.sae.org/servlets/j2746/.

Peter S. Abowd, President of Worldwide Automotive for Altia and Co-chairman of the J2746 Software Assessment Repository Committee stated, “This is an important step both in terms of improving the quality and reliability of automotive embedded software and reducing developmental costs. This new repository promotes higher fidelity and more responsible disclosure of software development capability in a secure and easy-to-use format.”
