Press release from: ilink Kommunikationssysteme GmbH

Berlin, Germany—August 23, 2006—ilink Kommunikationssysteme GmbH announced today that “direct”, the Mac OS X application for comfortable telephony, is available immediately for download in the new version 3.2 - now compatible with almost any phone system.

In addition to the large corporate phone systems as well as Tiptel telephones, direct release 3.2 now supports almost any TAPI-enabled phone system. This is made possible by ilink TeamCall Express, the new telephony server bundled with direct. Successful deployments have already been made with phone systems from Panasonic, Ascotel, Ericsson, and Avaya (IP Office).

In addition, direct 3.2 improves the display of incoming calls: the pop up window has received a major overhaul and incoming calls can now also be signaled using the notification system Growl (http://www.growl.info).

The new integrated demo license allows to put direct through its paces before a purchase.

The basic features of direct

direct lets the user search and dial a contact's phone number with just a few key strokes. direct uses the local address book or central LDAP directories for its search. When a known contact calls, direct can display the caller's name and picture on the screen. If phone numbers are store in other applications, the AppleScript support of direct comes in handy. It can be used, for example, to let other Mac applications like FileMaker Pro place phone calls via direct.

For information about additional features, e.g. the dynamic search function, or the Bonjour team function, please visit the direct homepage at http://direct.ilink.de/en

Telephones and phone systems

direct uses a modular communications architecture in order to support a maximum number of telephones and phone systems. ilink ships two plugins with direct: one for communicating with the TeamCall or TeamCall Express telephony server and one to connect to Tiptel telephones. Please check http://direct.ilink.de/en/phone_systems.html for a detailed list of supported phone systems.

ilink TeamCall

ilink TeamCall facilitates communication between direct and large corporate phone systems from Siemens, Alcatel, Avaya-Tenovis, or Deutsche Telekom (T-Com). TeamCall is included in the direct for TeamCall package and allows platform independent computer telephony under Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, or other Unix-Systems.

ilink TeamCall Express

With ilink TeamCall Express, direct can connect to phone systems with a TAPI interface. So far phone systems by Panasonic, Ascotel, Ericsson, and Avaya IP Office have been tested. In principle, every current phone system with third party TAPI drivers should work. TeamCall Express is included in the direct for TeamCall Express package and runs under Windows.

Tiptel telephones

direct 3 supports the following Tiptel telephones via a USB to serial (V.24) adapter cable: Tiptel 192, Tiptel 193, Tiptel 195, Tiptel 82system, Tiptel 84system.

Price

direct for Tiptel retails for 34.80 Euro including tax (30 Euro without tax) and is available via TKR (www.tkr.de). A ten user license of direct for TeamCall (including TeamCall) is available for 754 Euro incl. tax (650 Euro without tax).
