MVTec celebrates company anniversary in 2006

This year, MVTec Software GmbH from Munich, Germany, commemorates its 10 years company anniversary. MVTec is developer and manufacturer of standard software for machine vision that is used worldwide.
MVTec was founded in 1996 as a spin-off from Technische Universität München. Initially, the employees lodged inside university offices. 10 years later, MVTec is still a German company owned by the founders Dr. Wolfgang Eckstein, Dr. Olaf Munkelt, and Dr. Carsten Steger. In the last three years, the staff has doubled and MVTec now has more than 40 high-qualified experts, a number that will continue to grow. Thus, the company this year had to significantly expand in office space: Just in time for the anniversary, MVTec’s office and laboratory is now covering three floors.

In the machine vision industry, with the products HALCON and ActivVisionTools MVTec is a technology leader for machine vision standard software and provides a network of 30 distributors. At the end of 2006, the support for the seven distributor companies in the USA and Canada will increase thanks to a newly founded North American MVTec Support Center situated in the Boston area.

In the future, in addition to its technological know-how MVTec wants to increasingly incorporate its didactic expertise based on long-time experience. As a part of this strategy, at the VISION show 2006 the company will introduce the “MVTec Vision Kit”. This case themed “Hands-on Machine Vision” enables all of MVTec’s distribution partners to clearly and directly depict the nearly unlimited capability of this complex technology to potential customers and interested parties.
