A New Age of Lost History Tourism: Visiting the Grave Titanic

The grave of the infamous Titanic can now be visited by the fortunate ones for a handsome fee - if they don’t wait too long. Companies have started to grasp a new tourism opportunity to take passengers 2 miles (3.2 Km) under the sea-surface for an enthralling experience.

The unsinkable did unfortunately sink, 650km south-east off the coast of Newfoundland, in 1912, causing more than 1500 deaths. The ship that was once a luxury haven has now turned brittle and is on the verge of collapse; which is why people want to see it one last time - at the bottom of the ocean.

OceanGate and The Bluefish are two companies under spotlight insofar as Titanic-tourism is concerned.
A dive to the cruise ship was scheduled in 2018, but is postponed to 2019 due to bad weather. The companies claim “[the trip] is a real expedition, it’s certainly not a luxury vacation”, which surpasses the boundaries of the term ‘tourism’. With a cost over $100,000 per person, its unlikely for banter groups to register. The expedition aims at scientific and cultural values of the sunken ship apart from the awe it offers.
Cheap global flight tickets get clients to Newfoundland to start the expedition of a 90 minute submerged descend. They see bio-luminescent creatures and also assist the operational crew. Newer technology has dropped the original prices but not so much as easily affordable; there are more people eager to join the trip now. The ship carries only 8-9 clients at one time, so getting a seat is difficult since reservations for next year are already full.

The concept is a new and overwhelming approach towards historic tourism. Some scientists say the Titanic may last only for 2 more years while other are more optimistic. It is certain, however, that whoever see’s the Titanic is truly fortunate.
