‘Ultra-modern’ AC bus stand to be built in Patiala

For some time now, talks and plans of constructing an ‘ultra-modern’ bus stand fully equipped with AC have been going on, and the implementation is likely to start soon. PIDB has spoken of hiring a development consultant to make a solid plan of what is to be built.

According to statistics, the project should be completed in a year and a half from its initialization date. Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB) is going to hire a consultant to plan out the blue prints of the bus station. Land the size of 10 acres, owned by the Improvement Trust, is under examination as a site to build the station. 3 acres, as planned, will be the workshop space and the remaining 7 will be the site for the bus stand.

In 2009, a 300-crore project of the same launched, the foundation stone of which was place by Sukhbir Badal. The mega project of an ultra-modern bus stand failed to initiate, however, due to legal snags.

After that, the project was put on hold, but due to the recent change in Government the project has become a priority again since Patiala is home to the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. Positive updates about the project can be expected soon.

The new bus stand wouldn’t only be a much more comfortable waiting spot consisting of advanced technologies but will also help clear the general traffic in the city, since the previous bus stand was situated in the heart of the city.

The managing director of PRTC, Manjit Singh Narang, is positive concerning the development of the project and estimates the same to be over in a total of 180 days hopefully. With this, passengers can proceed with online AC bus booking to or from an high-tech bus stand in Patiala, Punjab.
