Medals Galore for JMA Pilani at Jhunjhunu District Level Yoga Competition

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word 'yoga' derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

To quote Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudav "As much as balance of rider and bicycle is vital for smooth ride across all terrains, balance of mind and body which can be achieved by practicing yoga is necessary for sailing through life." Yoga indeed can contribute in a holistic way for achieving triple point equilibrium between mind body and soul. The four main paths of Yoga with examples for each namely are Karma Yoga (Mahabharata Arjun) , Bhakti Yoga (Meera Bai), Raja Yoga (Swami Vivekanand) and Jnana Yoga (Gautam Buddha). Today Yoga is global in the sense that in 2014 United Nations declared 21 June every year as International Yoga Day thanks to the initiative of Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Smt. Jamuna Mishra Academy (JMA) established in the year 2004 is presently one of the most sought after schools at Pilani considered as Oasis in the desert state of Rajasthan well known in India today for top ranking institutions like BITS Pilani as well as CSIR Laboratory CEERI and globally renowned Birla Science Museum. On 09 May 2018 which also happens to be Vishwa Kavi Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti, Rajasthan State Yoga Association in collaboration with L N Birla Naturopathy and Yoga Kendra Pilani conducted a Jhunjhunu district level yoga competition for boys and girls. The competition had a grand opening ceremony graced by various dignitaries of Pilani. In the competition, apart from lead school JMA, participants included various other Pilani schools and from other parts of the district. Various competitions for various age groups were held throughout the day. The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Dinesh Kumar Yadav IAS Collector and DM of Jhunjhunu District as Chief Guest.

It is indeed a matter of pride that a team of 50 students from JMA drawn from various classes participated maintaining complete discipline and dedication. Master Inderjeet from Class VI (B) and Miss Manisha from Class V (B) bagged Silver Medals while Master vansh Gaur Class VII and Miss Neha Class XII Science stream bagged Bronze.

After the prize award ceremony, the students and teachers of JMA who were part of the yoga competition left with beaming faces and pride that they were indeed part of an institution which is a shining jewel in the crown among the schools at Pilani.
