Victoria Ryan whose book "When Your Pet Dies" won an award.

Coralville Iowa August 1, 2006 --- As Christian authors prepare to network and showcase their books at the August 4-6 2006 Christian Book Fair International at John Kennedy Mall in the border city of Dubuque Iowa, organizers Family Reading Ministries, Inc., have announced winners of their Family Friendly Book Awards.

Given in recognition of remarkably refreshing books that, in the words of the founder, Rev. C. Paschal Eze, “bring Christian moral values to the fore while helping to promote reading as a tool for family bonding, relaxation and individual mental and spiritual development,” winners include “When Your Pet Dies” by Victoria Ryan, and “The Missionary Kids Adventure Series, Book 1” by Sylvia Moffett.

Others are “Growing Up Pentecostal” by J. Stephen Conn, “Under a Living Sky” by Canadian author Joseph Simons, and “One Perfect Hero” by Maria E Hawke.

On why four of the five winners are children’s books, Rev. Eze notes that children occupy a very special place in every family and “we are trying to encourage parents to place greater value on books such as the ones that won the awards than on toys which are sometimes harmful to children.”

The awards would be conferred during the Christian book fair in Dubuque Iowa to be declared open at 11am August 4 by Dubuque Mayor Roy Buol, with Christian authors and others from across the US and beyond participating.

For more information on the awards, please contact Shanita Michelle at 1-3193519695 or visit http://www.readingspree.com, http://christian-book-fair.com.
