Press release from: Palm Beach Imperials

MELBOURNE, FL – The Palm Beach Imperials – Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast’s only ABA basketball team - knocked off Brevard in two of its first three meetings this season.
Last week, however, the Blue Ducks, led by 40 points from Darrell Williams, held on for a 98-95 victory.
Tonight at 7 p.m. the two teams will lock horns for the last time this season at the Clemente Center in Melbourne. The Imperials (3-1) will continue to look from solid play from the likes of Bobby St. Preux, Lamar Moore and Carl Jenkins, all who favored considerably in a 115-103 June 15th win over the Ducks.
St. Preux proved key at the foul line, Moore got hot down the stretch and Jenkins provided a big boost on the boards in the effort.
Williams, who has dreams of playing overseas and perhaps later – the NBA – will take to the court with strong support from Jason McLaughlin, who also scored double figures in the June 23rd win over Palm Beach.
Williams comes in averaging 30.4 points per game and has hit the 40-point plateau twice, the other time a 43-point performance last week.
Melbourne also hopes to regain the services of injured players Courtney Pritchard and Antwan Nix.
“Williams single-handedly carried us the last time we played,” Ducks’ coach Brian Rowsom said. “He was unbelievable.” Brevard opened the season winning five of its first seven games, with both losses coming at the hands of Palm Beach.
Palm Beach Coach and General Manager Lamont Carr, has his exciting new team playing with a loose, relaxed philosophy that has worked thus far.
“I tell them to go out and play, have a good time and relax,” Carr said. “It’s a fun game. Fan-friendly basketball is long overdue (in Palm Beach County), and it’s been a great ride so far.”
The Imperials – majority owned and managed by the Imperiali Organization based in West Palm – brings more to the court than just hoops, as it provides a unique blend of music, entertainment, family and basketball to courtside. Its management group consist a diverse group of international businessmen, ex-players, and marketing experts.
Tickets can be purchased by calling (321) 751-BLUE or at the box office before the game. Tonight’s Palm Beach-Brevard game will be the last of the season between these two teams.
